Joanne can remember being very young and rolling out the paper of the beautiful pictures her father would produce, after each watercolour class he went to. She marveled at how clever he was and got the overwhelming feeling that this was what she wanted to do. Again at the age of nine her future was cemented with her teacher gushing with praise over one of her pictures. She still remembers how good it made her feel for someone to like her artwork.
That desire to delight the viewer has never passed, when she hears positive comments about her work, the excitement and delight is like no other. That desire, along with the escape that the process of producing artwork provides, are the reasons her artwork has evolved from a hobby to a passionate love affair.
Joanne's inspiration comes from truly “seeing” the beauty of life that surrounds us, from the everyday object in a still life with its colours, shapes and shadows. To the feminine beauty she strives to capture in the girls that she paints and draws.
Whilst she has exhibited in multiple group shows, Joanne is working towards her first solo show and towards building her career as an artist.
